Marjorie Leads Cleveland Improv Jam!

Who left Marjorie in charge? Marjorie led the Cleveland Improv Jam on Tuesday, May 1st, as two of the Angry Ladies of Improv were sick and the remaining member was in rehearsal for a theatrical production. Some old pros in the Cleveland improv scene were in attendance, and some newer faces who are just learning improv. It was a nice mix of energy and experience, and Marjorie played a slew of games the group hadn’t done in a while. Come see us every Tuesday. 7:30 p.m. to play and 8 p.m. to watch, Sullivan’s on Madison in Lakewood.

Marjorie and Shannon Okey Team Up to Promote Her Talk at SXSW!

Shannon Okey, Publisher at Cooperative Press of Lakewood, Ohio and general all-around good buddy to Marjorie, spoke at the South By Southwest (SXSW) Conference in March. Shannon and Marjorie teamed up to promote her talk and get her famous, at least in Lakewood! She was featured in the Lakewood Observer, Lakewood Patch, which was then picked up by Women Business Info, and Knitty Blog. She was also interviewed in Knit Buzz.

Marjorie is now a member of the American Theatre Critics Association. She has been writing in the theatre criticism field for seven years now and thought she might as well make it official. Her sponsor in this endeavor is local theatre critic Roy Berko, whose blog is at www.royberko.info.

Marjorie Preston is one of the featured writers on the www.clevelandtheaterreviews.com site which just went live this Spring. The site has garnered lots of press, and this was a group effort, even though Marjorie sent the press release around to local journalists.

The site was discussed in the Cleveland Scene, David Hansen’s blog, West Life, The Cleveland Jewish News, and WDOK‘s website. Even Scott Suttell of Crain’s Cleveland Business tweeted about us!

Marjorie’s first review on the site should go up within the week. Check for her review of “God of Carnage” at Dobama Theatre soon.
