“Newsies” at the Nederlander Theatre is a sweet, touching musical directed by Jeff Calhoun. The show features a clear conflict, innovative and bold dancing, strong vocals from the ensemble and an underdog plot a la “Annie” or “Les Miserables.”

Brenna and Marjorie of Angry Ladies of Improv were both featured in funny photos in a Funny or Die article by fellow Cleveland improviser Michelle Vasvary. Vasvary is moving to L.A. in a matter of days and is chronicling the improv scene here. We think maybe she will miss the supportive improv scene when she gets to dog-eat-dog L.A. We’ll see! The article is here.
Marjorie interviewed reps from five (actually six!) theaters on the East side of the Cleveland metro area. (Six because Chagrin Valley Little Theatre also runs the River Street Playhouse, so they’re all the same organization.) This article will help you know where to go this summer for theater. There are four productions for you to see this coming weekend just from the theaters mentioned. The final theater mentioned, FPAC, has a show opening in July. Marjorie’s cute lil’ four-year-old daughter Emma has been saying funny things since she was one. Luckily, Marjorie’s been writing them down. And soon (hopefully within a couple months), those funny quotes are going to be seamlessly woven into an e-book, with the addition of some of Emma’s artwork and photos of her that don’t show her face — she is only four, after all. And the book may be called “Emmaisms” or something like it. Trust Marjorie to tell you this kid is funny, sometimes trippy or deep, and always sassy. Get one for yourself and one for a mom or dad you know. More details coming soon about ordering this great little book over two years in the making!
Marjorie’s other improv troupe, Rockwell 9, will play the Del Close Marathon of Improv in NYC on June 29 at 8 p.m. at Hudson Guild. Tell her to break a leg! But hopefully this year, not blow out a tire!
